Tapestry and axminster rugs
TAPESTRY
Woven like the velvet but the pile is uncut.
AXMINSTER
A cut-pile fabric in which the most intricate designs and an unlimited number of colors are possible because each pile tuft in the entire repeat of the pattern is taken from a separate length of yam.
These individual lengths are set, each in its proper place, on a series of long spools which are attached to an endless chain above the loom and which drop down at the proper time so that the yarn can be inserted into the fabric.
